Junior high principal Ken Fells will not face charges over a physical altercation with a grade eight student last year.
Fells was removed as principal at Graham Creighton Jr. High in March over the confrontation, which started when Fells asked the student to hand over a cell phone.
The boy refused, and in security footage posted online, Fells could be seen wrestling him to the floor and then marching him to the office in a headlock.
After reviewing the video and talking to witnesses, RCMP say there’s little chance of conviction.
Cpl. Scott MacRae tells CBC the criminal code allows a teacher to use “reasonable force” to control a situation.
Fells was reinstated as principal at Graham Creighton in July.
