There’s a whole new way to buy local this Christmas.
In response to increased competition from Christmas tree farmers from New England, Québec and Ontario, the CBC reports local growers have introduced a certification program for lots that sell only Nova Scotia grown trees.
All certified lots will be provided with a banner indicating they only deal in Nova Scotian trees.
The certification also guarantees that the trees for sale were cut within ten days of going on display, which should mean far fewer needles to clean up over the holiday season.
