There were lots of smiling faces Tuesday as the site for the new Bedford High School was announced. The school will be on Innovation Drive, across the street from the Research In Motion building and down the street from the new Bedford 4-pad arena.
District 7 School Board Representative David Finlayson says he’s pleased with the location.
“When it came to a ready site that was ready to go right now, this was the only one that fit the bill. It had all the services to it,” he says. “We wanted to talk about having it near a facility like RIM, because we wanted to have some connection with the business community.”
Hammonds Plains-Upper Sackville MLA Matt Whynot was also on hand for the announcement.
The province is sinking $37 million into the construction of the school. It is expected to be open for September 2013. It will house students from Grades 9 to 12.
