Surge in Operation Red Nose requests

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – ‘Tis the season for Christmas cocktails. But fewer people are getting behind the wheel after a few drinks.

Many people just aren’t taking the chance, due to our tough drunk driving laws, and are opting for transit, taxis, or or a safe ride service.

Operation Red Nose is already reporting a huge spike in ride requests so far this holiday season. The Vancouver Sun reports the free volunteer service has already seen a 37 per cent increase in the number of calls over the same period last year.

It has already provided almost 2,500 rides since the end of November.
