Billard remanded until February

Archie Billard has been remanded in custody after his bail hearing was rescheduled for February 2. The 22-year-old made a brief court appearance at the Spring Garden Road courthouse where duty council made the request this morning.

Billard was found guilty of the 2004 traffic death of teaching assistant Theresa McEvoy. He had been high on drugs when the stolen car he was joyriding in crashed into McEvoy’s vehicles, killing her.

He was released two months ago after severing four-and-a-half years in prison. Halifax Regional Police arrested him on the weekend for driving while prohibited. He also faces three weapons charges and a breach of probation on an unrelated matter.
