The Canadian Taxpayers Federation is urging the Dexter government to keep the cap on property tax increases.
Federation spokesman Kevin Lacey says the cap is a modest measure to ensure property taxes stay in step with inflation and to keep regular Nova Scotians from becoming house poor.
Some municipal politicians across the province want to get rid of the cap because of rising municipal costs.
But Lacey says in a release that taxes at all government levels have gone up – and there’s only so much taxpayers can take.
