Coyote spotted in Point Pleasant Park

The latest coyote encounter in metro was closer to urban Halifax than any so far.
Nick Mitchell called News 95.7 Monday afternoon after he turned his excavator around in Point Pleasant Park and spotted a coyote about 20 feet away.
“I got out of the machine and grabbed a shovel and tried to head for it,” he said. “It spotted me and ran off about another 50 feet, finished eating what it was eating and just moseyed off into the woods.”
Mitchell says the animal showed no fear of the noisy, large machine.
“I thought it was pretty strange to see it down there,” he said. “Especially with everyone down there walking their dogs about and especially about 20 feet away from my machine with a back-up beeper on it.”
A coyote was destroyed in Dartmouth Sunday after it was hit by a car on Ellenvale Avenue. Less than two weeks ago, a meter reader was attacked by a coyote at an urban farm in Spryfield.
