Park Board considers increased security at Stanley Park

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – A suspected arson at Stanley Park earlier this week has the Vancouver Park Board worried. The head of the board says security might be increased as a precaution.
Aaron Jasper says it might be time to take stock. “After an instance like this, you always want to do a review of what security measures you have in place. We don’t have a lot of instances of firebugs.”
While the board is reviewing its procedures, it won’t mean 24 hour security at every corner of the park.
“I think you don’t want to blow it out of proportion but it always warrants a review of what you have for security measures around all your facilities and park assets,” says Jasper.
Vancouver Police believe a firebug caused about $50,000 worth of damage to a couple of carriages with Stanley Park Horse-Drawn Tours. No people or horses were hurt in that fire.
