Nova Scotia man waiting for flight from Libya

A Nova Scotia man who fled a Libyan rebel attack on his oil rig and crossed the Sahara Desert is now awaiting transport out of the embattled country.
Gary Sutherland says his son Glen made a two-minute satellite phone call to his parents in Coldbrook Monday.
“He said that the rig had been ransacked by armed rebels and that they were packing up provisions, as much as they could, and that they were heading into the desert at night to try to make it to another drilling area,” Gary Sutherland told Maritime Morning Tuesday.
The 30-year-old safety advisor on a Suncor oil rig spoke to his mother Iris, but his father says they haven’t heard anything since.
“We’re waiting to hear from him. We’re encouraged by the news that we’ve heard so far that they’ve located him. We’re anxiously waiting to hear from him,” said his father.
However, he says they have heard from Suncor that their son is at a safe location and that the company is working to get them out of the country.
