Over 2,200 charges laid for drivers using hand-held devices

TORONTO, Ont. – The results are in for a one-week distracted driving blitz.

Police said they’ve laid more than 2,200 charges for drivers using hand-held communication devices.

Below is the breakdown:

  • 122 charges for careless driving
  • 114 charges for a display screen visible to the driver
  • 2,226 charges for hand held communication device
  • 102 charges for hand held entertainment device

All of the categories saw a substantial increase over 2010’s campaign.
