The last of the merchandise supporting the Canada Winter Games is being sold off in Halifax.
Melissa MacKinnon, director of communications and community relations, explains there was not a lot of clothing and memorabilia to begin with – certainly nothing like the amount of stuff leftover after the Vancouver Olympics.
“In an ideal world we’ll sell all of it over the next couple of days. There’s not much left right now. We’re not looking to make millions of dollars with it,” said MacKinnon.
If there is any remaining merchandise, the most likely scenario is a Event Max Merchandising and Promotions Ltd. will negotiate a deal with local retailers to sell off the goods. Proceeds from future sales will garner the Games a royalty.
The Games are sell off sporting wear for men, women and children, ball caps and a winter scarf, all with the games logo.
