Trapper on the hunt after coyote attacks farmer

A trapper has been called to try and find a coyote that attacked a man in Hants County.
Department of Natural Resources biologist Mike Boudreau tells News 95.7 the attack happened in Milford Station on Saturday as the man was feeding his horses.
“As he was shovelling, something hit in the back and it kind of startled him,” he said. “As he turned around, he tried to shake this coyote, and it grabbed him by the hand.”
Boudreau says the man fought the coyote off with a shovel and wasn’t hurt, but the wild dog did tear the back of his coat and punctured his heavy gloves.
Boudreau says the attack is worrying.
“He’s had them around his farm before, certainly it’s a rural area, but an encounter like this is unusual,” he said.
Boudreau says the farmer did the right thing when he fought back.
A release from the Department of Natural Resources recommends making noise, “acting large,” and fighting back if confronted with an aggressive coyote.
