Survey suggests changing Daylight Saving time date

Most of Canada will spring forward this weekend when we enter Daylight Saving time, turning our clocks forward one hour at 2 a.m. on Sunday.
In advance of the annual tradition, mattress company Sleepy’s released a survey which shows half of respondents would favour moving the time change to Saturday morning instead.
The shift would theoretically soften the Monday morning “clock shock” many will feel March 14.
Speaking to people on the street, News 95.7 encountered similar results.
“Sunday is a good day for a time change. I’m never working on Sundays,” said one person we spoke to on Young Street, Friday morning.
Other people said it didn’t matter when the change happened as it didn’t affect them.
But about half the people we spoke to agreed moving the date would be of some benefit, including a spokesperson at Java Blend Coffee Roaster in Halifax.
“I think that would make more sense. Then you’d have one day to adjust to it before you had to deal with Monday morning,” said Peter Burbridge.
Drinking more coffee is the way some people cope with the time change, but Burbridge says in previous years business hasn’t gotten a jolt from the time change, even though people have lost sleep.
Some other local coffee house owners agree business doesn’t increase during this time of year.
“The Monday morning after the time change seems to be pretty much the same as regular Mondays, there’s grumpy people, happy people,” said Geoffrey Creighton, co-owner of Smiling Goat Organic Espresso Bar. “I don’t notice too much difference after the time change.”
