Cape Breton records wettest winter

Cape Breton has officially recorded its wettest winter ever.

Environment Canada says December downpours and a series of snowstorms in January and February brought 850 millimetres of precipitation to the island.

Senior climatologist David Phillips says an average winter brings just over 500 millimetres.

He says 98 centimetres of snow fell in January, and 131 in February.
