Police officers surrounded a Halifax home on Lilac Street Friday evening and took three people into custody.

Staff Sergeant Kevin McNeil says about 10 Halifax cruisers blocked off a residential neighborhood in Dartmouth for about three hours after receiving reports of weapons in a house.

No weapons were found during the search of the house, he said.

All three people were later released and no charges were laid.

Police are continuing their investigation.
