Looking for justice: attacker at large

A group of Halifax friends are looking for justice. Ahmed Hasan, 26, was assaulted so badly last weekend that he suffered 11 facial fractures that took 14 hours in the operating room to treat.

“The doctor says his injuries were from multiple blows. Whether that was a fist, weapon, foot, we don’t know,” Says Hasan’s friend, David Kingwell. “The doctor said it was the equivalent of being dropped from about ten feet directly on to your face.”

The attack happened around 1:30am on Sunday, April 3rd outside of the Pacifico Bar and Grill on Salter Street. Hasan’s attacker hasn’t been identified. Police have been asking for witnesses to come forward but so far, no one has.

“This was right outside the bar. There were lots of people there,” says Kingwell. “I think that someone certainly knows who’s done this and they just don’t know to come (forward).” Kingwell just wants justice to be served. “(Hasan)’s been wronged. He’s been stopped,” Kingwell says.

“Him and his girlfriend are trying to take care of kids and work and do all that stuff and their lives have been stopped. He may have permanent scars the rest of his life.”

If you saw the assault or know anything about this incident, call police or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
