Papal plaque stolen from the Commons

What do you do with a hot papal plaque?

That’s what people are wondering following news that the plaque marking the spot of a papal mass in Halifax in 1984 has been stolen from a monument on the Commons.

Pope John Paul the Second celebrated mass on the Commons during a cross-Canada tour and the monument sits where the massive stage and altar once stood.

Someone removed the metal plaque that was affixed to a stone base on the north side of the Commons.

Police say someone removed the metal plaque over the Easter weekend and they’re asking the public for information on the theft.
