Halifax Regional Police are laying charges against an inmate at the Burnside Jail after a fight broke out Wednesday night and ended with another inmate being sent to the QEII with critical injuries.
HRP Constable Brian Palmeter explains what happened. “Our investigation has learned that at approximately 9:30 Wednesday night an altercation took place between two inmates in the facility and one of the inmates ended up falling down a flight of stairs,” he says. “A 49 year-old man was taken to hospital and his injuries are described as potentially life threatening.”
No word on the condition of the victim, though he remains in hospital.
Palmeter says Patrick Carl Shea, 39, of Dartmouth is charged with aggravated assault, breach of probation and breach of recognizance.
