Over 2,000 turn out to support postal workers

Carrying signs and chanting slogans, more than 2000 supporters rallied outside Canada Post’s plant on Almon Street Saturday in support of the locked-out postal workers.

The rally was one of a number of similar events held across the country this weekend intended to garner public support for the nearly 48,000 members of the Canadian Union of Postal Workers who are on strike.

Canada Post locked out their employees last week after their union launched rotating strikes on June 3rd.

Federal labor minister Lisa Raitt plans to bring back-to-work legislation to parliament this week.
