Two more convicted in IWK shooting

Despite testimony to the contrary, the judge ruled evidence showed Jeremy Alvin Leblanc, 28, and Matthew James Murphy, 26, knew what was going to happen outside the IWK Health Centre on Nov. 18, 2008.
Both men were found guilty of conspiracy to commit murder and attempted murder Tuesday afternoon.
Crown prosecutor Denise Smith says there is a precedent for strong sentences.
“Certainly when Mr. Marriott, the shooter, was sentenced, he received a very strong deterrent sentence, as did the other individual who’s been sentenced so far,” she says. “You can certainly expect the Crown to be seeking a similar sentence in that range.”
Leblanc is already serving 16 years for conspiracy to commit murder in another case. Murphy was distraught after the verdict was handed down. When asked what he thought of the decision he uttered a profanity and kept walking past reporters.
The pair will be sentenced separately on September 22nd.
