Nova Scotia Premier Darrell Dexter is in Cape Breton, where he has officially unveiled the province’s first two-stretcher ambulance.
The premier says the vehicle will improve the transfer of patients between health-care facilities.
The two-stretcher ambulance will be used to transfer non-emergency patients between the Cape Breton region and Halifax.
The ambulance was manufactured by TriStar Industries in Yarmouth.
As well, the premier says a new nurse practitioner has been named for the Cape Breton District Health Authority.
The nurse practitioner will provide services to residents of Northside Community Guest Home in North Sydney and Miner’s Memorial Manor in Sydney Mines.
