SLAVE LAKE, AB. – The royal tour has taken the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge to Slave Lake in central Alberta.
Many people who live in the town lost everything in a massive wildfire in May. Will and Kate are meeting with rescue workers as they try to boost the spirits of those who lost their homes.
Some people closed their businesses and lined the town’s streets hoping to catch a glimpse of the two. A mammoth ‘Welcome’ sign has been painted and put up in a field near the airport that the Royal Couple should be able to see from the sky.
After two hours on the ground, Will and Kate will head off to an undisclosed location for some private time before making their way back to Calgary for the rest of the week. Then, it’s off to California.
