Nova Scotians talk bed bugs on the web

Nova Scotians are going online to share their nightmarish stories with dreaded bed bugs using a website called bedbugregistry.com.
The Chronicle Herald reports the website was created in 2006 by an American computer programmer after a bad experience in a San Francisco hotel.
It’s is a free, unofficial database of bedbug sightings turned in by tenants and travelers across North America and Nova Scotians have latched on to the project, using it to plug some of the gaps in the province’s bed bug strategy, particularly its failure to track bedbug reports.
As of Sunday, there were 89 posts on the site from Nova Scotia addresses.
That puts the province at a relatively high rate of communication about bedbugs: about one post for every 11,000 people, as compared to the rate for Ontario, excluding Toronto, of one post for roughly every 18,000 people.
