Police hoping dog autopsy will help murder case

Major crime investigators in metro have asked for a necropsy on a pet dog in hopes it may shed some light a recent murder.
The chihuahua’s body was found alongside his owner’s in a Bilby Street apartment last month.
Police believe Shawn Andrew Mead, 32, had been dead for about three weeks at that point, but the Herald reports so far they haven’t been able to pinpoint a time of death.
Investigators have asked for the necropsy on “Lucky” to determine a cause of death and see what else might be learned.
Cst. Brian Palmeter says police also still want to talk to anyone who had contact with Mead during the first week of June.
