Convention centre price on the rise

The cost of a proposed convention centre in downtown Halifax is going up.
Metro Halifax reports the province has received updated costs on the project, which initially came with a price tag of 159 million.
Developer Joe Ramia guaranteed the price until January 15, when it was hoped the three levels of government would agree on a cost-sharing arrangement.
He extended the guarantee until April 15 and after that, said he was re-costing the project.
Ramia wouldn’t comment on the new price Wednesday, and neither would the premier’s office or the department of infrastructure renewal.
Metro reports the price increase is expected to be in the millions.
The project would have cost the city and province $56 million apiece.
