As fall approaches, you may be thinking about stocking up on firewood and regional police have some tips to ensure you don’t get ripped off.
Police say they’ve investigated several cases recently in which someone ordered firewood and then got less than they’d paid for.
The cases typically involve sellers who post their numbers on the side of the road or advertise online.
Police suggest always using reputable companies that are registered with the Better Business Bureau and make sure you’re home for the delivery. Double check all the information on the receipt, including the company name, phone number and address with the delivery person.
They also recommend getting the make, model and license plate number of the delivery vehicle.
