Arson, robbery, weapons keep Halifax police busy overnight

Halifax Regional Police were kept busy overnight by bullets, a firebomb and a robbery at a Halifax fast food restaurant.

The window of a house in the zero to 100-block of Cranberry Crescent was shot out at about 11 p.m. Sunday.
 
A K9 unit located and seized a firearm in one of the nearby paths.

Sgt. Gordon Graham told News 95.7 the shooting happened within moments of police stopping vehicle in the area.

“Two males from the original traffic stop were taken into custody and the vehicle was seized,” said Graham. “Two other males were taken into custody near the area the K9 team had tracked and where the weapon was located.”

One boy and three men were taken into custody for questioning.

Across town in an unrelated incident, a fast food restaurant was being robbed.

At about 11:35 p.m. a man wearing a mask entered the McDonalds restaurant at 6324 Quinpool Road in Halifax, and confronted staff with a knife, demanding cash.

Staff handed over cash and the suspect fled out a rear door and eventually got into a waiting vehicle which left the area. No one was injured in the robbery.

The suspect is described as a man standing 5’7″, 145 pounds and wearing a hoodie and black jeans.

Police said it is believe he got into grey vehicle, possibly a Volkswagen.
 
In a third incident, police responded to a Molotov cocktail being thrown at a home on Fundy Lane in Dartmouth at about 12:45am Monday.

“Officers learned that a person had thrown a bottle filled with a flammable liquid at a residence,” said Graham. “There was a small fire which a resident quickly extinguished. The area was checked by patrol officers and a K9 unit but the suspect could not be located.”

The suspect was described as a being white man wearing black shorts and two hoodies, one of which was red.
