Bell Aliant fixes major NB phone outage

Bell Aliant says it is has fixed a major telephone outage throughout New Brunswick.

The telecommunications company announced mid-day that it was aware of the outages and was working to fix them.

A spokeswoman for the company said it was not clear what triggered the outages.

The City of Saint John, N.B., issued a statement saying Bell Aliant was experiencing network congestion due to damage to a fibre optic line in northern New Brunswick.

Just after 2pm, Bell Alliant announced on its Twitter account that “Telephone service has been fully restored in NB. Thanks for your patience.”
