Twentieth Run for the Cure raises millions

A little rain didn’t wash away thousands of breast cancer survivors and their supporters, as nearly 9,000 people turned up in Halifax for the annual CIBC Run for the Cure on Sunday.
Participants, all dressed in pink, walked and ran along the one-kilometer and five-kilometer route to mark the event’s 20th anniversary.
The fundraiser brought in $1 million in Halifax alone, $2.7 million across Atlantic Canada and $30 million nationally.
Canadian Forces members in Kandahar also took part with more than 370 men and women lacing up pink army boots and donning wigs to run a route on the forward operating base.
They raised more than $13,000.
It was the first time a run has ever been held outside Canada.
