VPD issues warning after woman assaulted near UBC

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – Vancouver Police have issued a public warning after a woman was assaulted outside her home near Crown St. and West 29th Ave. on Oct. 12.
She has some bruises to her arms and legs but is going to be OK.
Const. Jana McGuinness says the man also followed the woman home a couple of times in September, trying to make conversation with her as she walked her dog in the area late in the evening.
“When we began that investigation we spoke to some people in the area and conducted a canvass,” she explains. “The canvas in the area uncovered several more suspicious person complaints.
“This person has caught their attention. It’s a little bit disconcerting, they’re not sure what he’s up to.”
Police are asking women in the area to carry a cell phone with them and to travel in groups.
The suspect is described as a white man in his mid-30s, 5 feet 10 inches to 6 feet tall, and 160 pounds, with a medium build, dark eyes and dark clothing. He has blonde hair, which is cut shorter on the sides and longer on top.
