Remembrance Day: where to go, what’s open and closed

Legion officials with the Nova Scotia/Nunavut command say the main Remembrance Day ceremony at the Grand Parade will take place as scheduled, despite a forecast for up to 100mm of rain on Friday.

The Bedford ceremony has been moved from Fish Hatchery Park to the former Winners location at the Bedford Place Mall.

In Clayton Park, the service planned at the Korea War Memorial is being moved to the Canada Games Centre.

If any further plans change, News 95.7 will have the updates on air and in the list below.

Friday is a holiday in Nova Scotia under the Remembrance Day Act, so malls, grocery stores, NSLC branches, government offices and banks will all be closed.

Collection of garbage, organics or recyclables normally scheduled for Friday will take place on Saturday, Nov. 12. Further details about waste collection and weekend hours for the Otter Lake Facility are on HRM’s website.

Metro Transit buses are on a holiday schedule and there are several other disruptions to be aware of. Visit the Metro Transit website for details.
