The stepfather of a missing Dartmouth woman says the family just wants to know if she’s okay.
Melissa Dawn Peacock sent her family a text message Nov. 7 and has not been seen or heard from since.
Peacock’s stepfather James Slaunwhite tells News 95.7 that Melissa has left home in the past, this time is different.
“She always had contact with friends or family,” he says. “At best [she was gone] for three or four days, but there was always contact.”
A text sent from her phone three weeks ago said she was going to “the country” with “a buddy.”
“We have no idea where the country is, who her buddy is,” Slaunwhite says. “And then she carried on the conversation that she really didn’t want to go and she wishes she was home. She really wanted to be back home.”
Slaunwhite added the family is worried about a few “unsavory” acquaintances in Melissa Dawn’s life.
Anyone with information about her disappearance can contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
