A regional councillor has fired another salvo at the province over the occupy nova scotia protests.
David Hendsbee sent an email to media outlets Thursday saying he was “astounded and ashamed” to learn the legislature had locked Occupiers out, leaving them on the sidewalk.
Last week, MLAs unanimously adopted a motion expressing “regret” over the city’s handling of the encampment in Victoria Park. Hendsbee responded by suggesting they invite the protesters to camp on the province house lawn.
In yesterday’s email, he says the lawn is public space, not private – and it’s hypocritical of the legislature to deny the protesters access.
