Shoppers logging on for Cyber Boxing Day

Online sales are in full swing this Boxing Day, picking up the slack as many big box stores and malls postpone shopping sales until midweek.
This year Christmas Day fell on a Sunday making Monday and Tuesday statutory holidays.
The creator of ecoupons.com said the timing won’t stop 50 per cent of Canadians from doing their Boxing Day shopping online.
“A lot of these sales went live on Christmas Day, and some even on Christmas Eve,” Talya Schaeffer told News 95.7, Monday. “So when all these stores shut down initially for the Christmas holiday, you could still shop online. That includes today.”
Schaeffer said Cyber Boxing Day has become an International Shopping phenomenon for a number of reasons.
Already, it’s the busiest shopping day of the year.
“More and more retails are participating in providing online Boxing Day deals,” she said. “We’ve been tracking this for the last few years and every year more retails are providing deals and therefore attracting more people to shop online.”
She also pointed to the fact that more Canadians have home computers and internet access as reasons for many shoppers spending money online this Boxing Day.
