The head of a well-known Halifax crime family has been sentenced to two years in prison.
The Chronicle Herald reports Terry Marriot Sr. will do the time after pleading guilty last August to possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking.
Police found 28 grams of cocaine that had been packaged for individual sale at the 62-year-old’s Spyfield home in 2009, as well as a digital scale, plastic baggies, and about $2,000 dollars cash.
Marriott has 30 previous convictions.
The paper says his defence lawyer admitted Marriott’s record was “unenviable” and told the court Marriott only went back into the business of dealing drugs to try and get information about the February 2009 killing of his son, Terry Jr.
Terry Jr. was shot to death while taking a nap at a friend’s house in Harrietsfield.
No one has been charged in the murder.
