New developments moving to public hearings

Two new developments will move to a public consultation phase, now regional councillors have given their preliminary approval.
Council gave the green light to a proposal for a new eight-storey mixed-use building at 6112 Quinpool Road, and another to add three floors to the former Bay building on Chebucto Road.
Both buildings exceed current height regulations, but staff recommended approving them based on the positive impact on their respective neighbourhoods.
However, Coun. Jennifer Watts (Connaught-Quinpool) told council she’s already hearing from concerned constituents about the height of the buildings and the anticipated increase in traffic congestion.
Residents will be able to put their concerns on the record at the upcoming public meetings, which have yet to be announced.
