Some schools closed, roads icy after short, intense snowfall

There are some school closures, road warnings and flight cancellations to be aware of today, after a dose of winter weather.
The South Shore Regional School Board has closed all schools today, citing slushy, icy road conditions. The Annapolis Valley Regional School Board also reports that bus drivers will be using their discretion on side roads.
There are also flight delays and cancellations this morning at Halifax Stanfield International Airport, and drivers report icy patches on highways and roads.
Nova Scotia got about 12 cm of snow during Thursday’s brief but intense snowfall, which caused several traffic accidents, early school closures and a few power outages.
Environment Canada says Moncton had the largest amount of snow, with about 19 centimetres, while Saint John received 17 centimetres.
The snow is expected to be a distant memory by this afternoon, as the daytime high climbs to 10 degrees.
