Preliminary inquiry in Laffin murder case starts Monday

A preliminary inquiry starts Monday into the charges against a man for the alleged murder of a Halifax prostitute.
37-year-old Steven Elliot Laffin of Dartmouth is charged with the second-degree murder of Nadine Taylor in the summer of 2010.
The Chronicle Herald reports the inquiry will determine if the Crown has enough evidence against Laffin for the matter to proceed to a jury trial in Nova Scotia Supreme Court.
At least a dozen witnesses are expected to be called by the Crown over the nine day inquiry, but any evidence heard will be under a publication ban.
Taylor went missing after leaving her apartment on the night of July 28, 2010 and police say her body may never be found.
