An independent consultant is telling the Utility and Review Board to reject nearly seven million dollars’ worth of Nova Scotia Power’s proposed capital projects.
Mary Neal of Boston-based La Capra Associates writes in a report for the board that there’s a lack of justification and quantification of the need for some of the projects.
Neal also suggests the power company should have to submit more information on future spending requests and should look into more alternatives for more costly projects.
The Herald reports Nova Scotia Power wants approval for $330 million in capital spending this year. That includes $143 million in new projects that customers would have to pay for, starting in 2013.
