Man shot dead inside Wall Centre

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – Less than three weeks into the new year, Vancouver has had its first homicide of 2012.
There are reports a man who was shot dead inside the Cafe One restaurant in the Wall Centre on Burrard Street last night was high-profile gangster Sandip Duhre. It has not been confirmed by police.
Constable Lindsay Houghton with the VPD will only say it looks like a targeted hit. “We had that very brazen public shooting on Davie Street not too long ago, and these are incidents that put the public, the innocent public, at complete risk for their lives.”
Only a few months ago, the Gang Task Force released a warning about the Duhre gang, suggesting anyone associated with the Abbotsford-based crime family could be a target.
From the Hornby Street side of one of the two buildings, a large bullet hole and what appears to be blood splatter could be seen in the window of the second floor restaurant.
Mike Tanaka lives in the complex and calls the shooting ‘shocking.’ “We live in a nice place; the downtown Wall Centre, I think it’s a nice, safe place. That’s why we chose this condo. But now that’s changing.”
Vancouver Police say the victim was likely in his 20s, though his name has not been released.
Police are still looking for the shooter.
