N.S. gas prices set for small increase

We’re expecting another small increase in gas prices this week.

News 95.7 is predicting prices will go up by about a penny a litre tonight, moving the price of regular self-serve to about $1.31 in metro.

In New Brunswick, regulated prices rose two cents a litre overnight to a new maximum of $130.4. Diesel prices edged downwards by one-tenth of a penny to $139.9.

In Toronto, unregulated prices were expected to rise by about half a penny overnight, moving the average price in the GTA to $125.1.

Wholesale prices fell steadily over the last week, but the loonie went the other way, closing at $1.0009 U.S. on Wednesday.

Bloomberg reports gasoline demand is now at its lowest point since September 2011 and total fuel consumption has fallen just over eight per cent to 17.7 million barrels a day.
