One arrest, one suspect wanted after Surrey shooting

SURREY (NEWS1130) – One suspect is still on the loose, another has been arrested after a 28-year-old man was shot several times in Surrey this morning. The victim is in critical condition.

Investigators say the victim drove to 144th Street and 92nd Avenue in his rental car, he got out and was confronted by the shooter. The victim walked to a nearby home for help, while the suspect took off in the rental car.

“The Delta Police were able to quickly engage a permimeter in that area there, and were successfully able to apprehend one person believed to have been fleeing from that vehicle,” says Surrey RCMP Corporal Drew Grainger.

Shortly after the shooting police were called to Bates Road in Delta where witnesses reported seeing a car on fire and two men running from it. Police think the two incidents are related.

The victim has a previous criminal record and is well-known in the drug trade.
