N.S. gas, diesel prices see small increases

A bit of a surprise at the pumps this morning.

The UARB has elected to raise regulated gas prices by eight-tenths of a penny, moving the price of regular self-serve to $1.327 in metro.

Diesel prices went up, as expected, by a penny and a half to $1.349 in metro.

Oil prices went up about a dollar and a half over the last week, and the New York Harbour spot price for gasoline climbed before receding over the last few days.

At this time last year, drivers in metro were paying $1.16 for gas and $1.22 for diesel oil was selling for $85.58 U.S. a barrel, compared to Thursday’s close of $99.84.
