Rain and snow headed for Halifax

Another winter weather system is tracking towards Halifax, bringing a mix of rain and snow over the next 48 hours.

News 95.7 meteorologist Richard Zurawski says he expects a wet Friday rush hour, followed by a snowy evening.

“We’ll start off with rain mid-to-late afternoon, and then gradually switch over to a mix of snow and rain,” he said. “Overnight, we’ll get two to four centimetres of snow before it tapers off tomorrow morning. By noon or so, it should be pretty much done.”

The city has cautioned drivers that the inclement weather will create slippery road conditions, and officials say the overnight winter parking ban may be enforced.

Zurawski says the precipitation will taper off on Saturday and give way to mainly sunny skies on Sunday.
