Man faces more than 90 charges stemming from string of robberies

A man is facing more than 90 charges stemming from eight armed robberies he’s alleged to have committed in Halifax and Dartmouth.

39-year-old Kenneth Curry Sykes was arrested Saturday morning on a Canada-wide warrant in connection to a robbery at the Running Room at Sunnyside Mall in Bedford on January 26th.

Police say he’s now been charged with seven more recent robberies,

– Pets Unlimited, 202 Brownlow Ave, Dartmouth, November 17

– Alia N Tanjay, 90 Hector Gate, Dartmouth, November 19

– Ultramar, 219 Pleasant Street, Dartmouth, November 19

– Bouclair Home, 194 Chain Lake Drive, Halifax, November 23

– NSLC, 6990 Mumford Road, Halifax, November 23

– TD Bank, 6239 Quinpool Road, Halifax, February 16

A gun was used in each case and police say that’s where a lot of the extra charges come from.

Sykes is scheduled to be arraigned in Provincial Court Monday.
