Province issues RFP to study procurement expenses

Nova Scotia will hire an outside company to take a hard look at how the provincial government buys goods and services.
A request for proposals has been issued today as part of the province’s Expenditure Management Review.
The government spends about a billion dollars every year on everything from paper and pencils to oil, vehicles, and office space.
Deputy Premier Frank Corbett says the analysis will help find potential savings while improving the quality of goods and services for Nova Scotians.
The province will look at all departmental spending, and purchases by NSCC, school boards, and the Housing Development Corporation.
