Deadline passes without transit deal

The Metro Transit strike continues.
As expected, HRM’s Friday midnight deadline for the transit union to accept its “final offer” has come and gone without a deal.
ATU president Ken Wilson made it very clear earlier in the day Friday that they would not be accepting the offer.
Metro Transit and Mayor Peter Kelly have said if the offer wasn’t accepted, everything they’ve negotiated would be wiped clean and they’d be back at square one, but Wilson says the union isn’t buying that.
Rostering continues to be the main sticking point.
It’s been nearly a month since the two sides sat down to negotiate, with both instead favoring to send offers and counter offers to each other directly.
