Some councilors talk arbitration as transit strike continues

Some cracks could be forming at City Hall when it comes to ending the transit strike.
The Chronicle Herald reports two councilors want the city to revisit all ideas – including binding arbitration.
Councilor Jackie Barkhouse is one of those who wants what the paper calls “hard question about tactics” during the next strike update.
She tells the paper she expects the topic of arbitration to come up during the next briefing, which will likely be at this Tuesday’s council meeting.
Dawn Sloane says she too thinks binding arbitration could be the answer.
She says if they’re back to square one, she’s concerned the strike will go on way too long.
The majority of councilors are still wary of binding arbitration, but Jerry Blumenthal says it could be used to work out the details – if rostering was off the table.
