Skating oval closes for the season

Halifax bids a fond farewell to the Emera Skating Oval. It’s closed now until next season.

With spring on the way, temperature fluctuations have made it impossible to control the ice.

The city was hoping to keep it open for March Break, but it made the call today to wrap up for for now.

Since opening just before Christmas, the Oval had about 130-thousand skating visits.

A public information session will take place in the near future to seek additional input from the public on potential further development of the site.
