Workers at the NewPage Port Hawkesbury paper mill in Cape Breton have been given a revised contract offer by a company that wants to buy the idle operation.
Archie MacLachlan of the Communications Energy and Paperworkers union Local 972 won’t say how the proposal from Pacific West Commercial Corporation has changed.
A union meeting scheduled for Saturday will now be held today.
The mill in Point Tupper closed in September and Pacific West Commercial’s original offer would have laid off about 320 employees from the 550-member workforce.
